WBZ Weather Madness

March Madness begins today! Have you made your picks?  Not a college hoops fan?  Perhaps you might have better luck picking a weather bracket!  We thought we'd have a little fun and choose some big weather events that have impacted New England and have YOU decide which storm will end up as the "winner."

We've received several suggestions of memorable storms and compiled the "Sweet 16" above. Now, it's up to you.  What should you vote for? Whichever storm or event you feel "connected" to the most. Maybe it's a memory of shoveling out feet of snow, or playing in the yard, or hunkering down without power.  Just choose whichever weather events you have the greatest and most vivid memories from.

Executive weather producer Terry Eliasen and I will post polls on Facebook and Twitter along with updated video blogs on when to vote, along with the updated brackets.

Now, on to today's forecast.

I know a lot of people are going to be out and about celebrating St. Patrick's Day.  It'll turn into a nice afternoon with the sun breaking out and temperatures rising into the low 60s in many communities.  There is a lot of cold air coming in aloft today (above our heads). In turn, the atmosphere is unstable and that instability with fuel scattered showers and thunderstorm later on today.  Just like in summertime, not everyone will see a storm, but there may be some small hail and brief gusty wind in any storms that do develop.

I'm not anticipating widespread severe storms, but a few could approach warning criteria between 4-10 p.m.

Tomorrow, another round of showers pushes in as a cold front sweeps through.  The cold air comes in fast enough late in the day that some wet snowflakes may even mix in with the raindrops across central/western MA.

After that, it's all about our potential weekend storm.  There's still a lot of uncertainty as to where the storm will track and in turn, what the impacts will be here in New England. Terry breaks down all the details in his blog which you can read here.

Stay tuned for updates!
