Man Charged With Beating Sword-Wielding Man Using Bat In Barnstable Fight

BARNSTABLE (CBS) -- Hyannis Police say a 23-year-old bat-wielding man is facing an assault charge after he seriously injured another man who used a sword during a fight in Barnstable.

Kenneth McGay has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, but that charge could be upgraded depending on the victim's condition, according to the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office.

The fight took place on Winter Street, investigators said, but it's unclear what sparked the attack.

Police haven't identified the victim, who's in critical condition at Cape Cod Hospital Saturday night.
