Bus Driver Charged With OUI At Sturbridge School

STURBRIDGE (CBS) – A Sturbridge bus driver was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with drunk driving.

Sturbridge Police were called to Tantasqua Junior High School for a medical issue just after 2 p.m.

After investigating, police found that there was no medical emergency.

Instead, police arrested Allison Silvestri, 49, and charged her with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Police say Silvestri had driven a school bus to the junior high school while drunk, though no students were on board.

"School personnel and fellow drivers intervened and contacted 911 believing there was a medical issue" Sgt. Kevin Mercier said. "The school bus continued on its assigned route, operated by a substitute driver and there were no delays for students."

Silvestri is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Dudley District Court.
