These Are The Highest-Paying Jobs In America, New Survey Finds

SAUSALITO, Calif. (CBS) – For many people, the most important thing about a job is the paycheck.

With that in mind, employment website Glassdoor has compiled a new list of the top 25 jobs offering the highest salaries. The information is based on people who have shared their compensation on Glassdoor.com in the past year.

The list is dominated by positions in the health care and technology industry, where there's less competition and the risk of being replaced by automation is lower. Traditional jobs like doctor and lawyer are at the top of the list, with physicians pulling in an average of $180,000 a year.

About 68 percent of people told Glassdoor that salary is one of the most important factors when applying for jobs, but the website cautions that money isn't everything.

"There's no doubt that pay is among the leading factors most job seekers weigh when determining where to work, a Glassdoor economist says. "However, our research shows that a big paycheck isn't necessarily tied to long-term satisfaction in your job."

Here are the Top 10 highest-paying jobs based on median base salary. Head over to Glassdoor's website for the full list:
