Lynn Teen Charged With Murder For Chelsea Shooting

CHELSEA (CBS) -- A 16-year-old Lynn boy has been charged with murder in the shooting death of another teen at a party over the weekend.

Prosecutors say Emmanuel Marrero opened fire on 50 people in an apartment on Washington Ave. in Chelsea early Sunday morning injuring 6 people and killing 19-year-old Pablo Villeda.

Evidence from the scene suggests there was only "one shooter and one gun," the prosecution said.

During the arraignment Tuesday, Marrero stayed behind the door so his face was hidden from public view.

The courtroom was packed with many of Villeda's friends.

"He's a good person. He was always mellow, always smiling. You never see him in any sort of depression, you never see him down, you never see him mad at nothing. You always see him in a good mood," friend Jeffrey Contreras told WBZ-TV.

Evelyn Martinez was also at the apartment that night, but was not shot.

"If the girl who was next to me wasn't next to me, it would've been me that would've been shot," Martinez said.

Marrero will be tried as an adult, per state law. He is currently being held without bail.
