National Pancake Day: IHOP Offers Free Short Stacks Tuesday For Good Cause

BOSTON (CBS) – Break out the maple syrup, because Tuesday is National Pancake Day.

Once again, IHOP locations around the country will be offering a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The chain restaurant has been dishing out free flapjacks on March 8 since 2006. Last year's stack of free pancakes served would have reached 19 miles high, IHOP says.

While there's no charge for pancakes, IHOP is urging customers to reach into their wallets anyway to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. IHOP has raised nearly $20 million for the charity on National Pancake Day over the past 10 years.

At the Brighton IHOP location on Soldiers Field Road, Miss Massachusetts Meagan Fuller will be flipping pancakes and serving hungry customers from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.
