Herbal Remedies Could Put Cancer Patients At Risk

BOSTON (CBS) -- People often turn to herbal remedies for a variety of health conditions, but some can actually be harmful, especially if they're undergoing cancer treatment.

Herbs like turmeric, gingko biloba, black cumin and even some green teas can interfere with the effectiveness of chemotherapy or promote bleeding.

It is important for patients to report to their healthcare providers any and all herbal therapies they may be taking, even if they don't consider them medications.
