Couple Injured In Worcester Hit-And-Run

WORCESTER (CBS) -- Police are looking for the driver of a minivan involved in a hit-and-run in Worcester.

According to police,  58-year-old woman and a 60- year-old man were struck on Quinsigamond Avenue around 12:30p.m. on Sunday. Both were rushed to a nearby hospital.

"They were shopping at the flea market and as they were coming out, there was a lady backing up and ran over the couple," said Rey Rivera, a vendor at the flea market who witnessed the incident

"The daughter was screaming, telling the lady to stop, banging on the window," he said.

Rivera believes the female driver knew she had hit someone.

"It's gotta be something, either stop or roll your window down or something, but the lady I guess was in shock herself and she just kept going," he said.

Witnesses said the woman's chest was run over twice by the driver. Police say she is still being treated for her injuries.

The man has been released from the hospital.

Police say they are developing information on the suspect's vehicle and are working to catch up with that driver.
