Police Shoot Dartmouth Man Accused Of Charging At Officers With Knife

DARTMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — Police have shot and wounded a man who they say charged at officers with a knife.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office says Dartmouth police were called to a home on Sunday on a report of a domestic violence incident between a mother and her son. While officers were responding, the DA's office says 23-year-old Ryan Kuphal fled in his mother's car.

Police found him a short time later outside of a home. Authorities say Kuphal charged at officers with a knife. The officers used a stun gun, but they say it didn't work and Kuphal continued to charge. They say one of the officers then fired a shot, hitting him.

Kuphal was taken to a hospital, where he's listed in serious but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.
