Edelman, Patriots Flip Pancakes At Boston Children's Hospital
BOSTON (CBS) -- Julian Edelman is just as competitive at the griddle as he is on the gridiron.
The Patriots wide receiver, along with running back Dion Lewis and defensive lineman Trey Flowers, showed off their culinary prowess on Thursday, making and delivering pancakes to pediatric patients at Boston Children's Hospital.
The yearly event, put on by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, included a pancake flipping contest.
Edelman didn't have any issues with his flip, and by all accounts Flowers' was just as flawless. Lewis on the other hand was a little too aggressive and nearly flipped his off the skillet.
In true Patriots' fashion, Edelman said there is always room for improvement after the fun was finished.
"The flip, I think we could get better. I'm going to have to break down the film," Edelman joked with reporters.
Despite his near fumble, Edelman crowned Lewis the pancake champ thanks to his use of chocolate chips. Edelman also admitted that he was more of a crepe guy when it comes to breakfast.
"I'm that guy," he said.
While pancakes aren't his preference, Thursday morning was a great day for Edelman and his teammates.
"These events are awesome. I've been fortunate enough to come here and do this event a few years ago. It's good to come back and do it again and put a smile on some of these kids' faces," Edelman said. "It really touches you. It's a good feeling."
