Barnstable Ranks High, Worcester Low In US Well-Being Survey

WASHINGTON (CBS) --How you feel has a lot to do with where you live, according to a new report.

A survey from Gallup and Healthways ranked communities across the country on their well-being and access to care. Thousands of people were asked about their social relationships, financial security, doctor visits, and whether they are happy at home and work.

Coming in at No. 5 in the country was the town of Barnstable. The Cape Cod community was singled out for having the lowest insecurity about health care in the country, and a high percentage of citizens who have seen a dentist in the past year.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Worcester area was ranked No. 183 out of 190 communities on the well-being ranking.

If you're looking for the city named the happiest and healthiest in America, that would be Naples. The Florida city is followed by Salinas, California; The North Port-Sarasota-Bradenton area in Florida and Fortin Collins in Colorado.

The city with the lowest well-being is Charleston, West Virginia, according to the survey.
