Worker Killed At Bernie & Phyl's Norton Headquarters

NORTON (CBS) – A man was killed Wednesday afternoon in the parking lot of the Bernie & Phyl's headquarters in Norton.

Police say 63-year-old Michael Hassett of Foxboro was struck by a delivery truck in the rear parking lot of the business on East Main Street.

In a statement, the Rubin family said Hassett was a "treasured member of the Bernie & Phyl's family."

"Today, we lost a long-time and valued employee at our Norton headquarters," the statement said. "This tragic accident in our parking lot has left us shocked. We cannot even begin to express our sadness and sorrow."

The truck was owned by NEHDS, a subcontractor who delivers furniture for Bernie & Phyl's.

The incident is under investigation by Norton Police, the Bristol County District Attorney's Office and members of the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the DA's Office.

No other information has been released.
