Celtics' Isaiah Thomas To Participate In NBA All-Star Skills Competition

BOSTON (CBS) -- Isaiah Thomas will be busy during All-Star weekend.

Not only is the Celtics' guard making his All-Star game debut next Sunday in Toronto, but he'll participate in the All-Star skills competition on Saturday night, the league announced Thursday. It will be Thomas' second straight appearance in the skills competition.

Last year, Thomas lost out to Houston's Patrick Beverley, who will be defending his crown next weekend. Also scheduled to participate in the skills competition are guards C.J. McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers and Jordan Clarkson of the Los Angeles Lakers. This year the event will also include some of the best big men in the league, with DeMarcus Cousins of the Sacramento Kings, Karl-Anthony owns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans and Draymond Green of the Golden State Warriors all competing against some of the league's most skilled guards.

Thomas leads the Celtics with 21.4 points per game (on 42 percent shooting from the floor) and 6.6 assists per game.

Thomas' teammate Kelly Olynyk, shooting 42 percent from three-point range this season, was not named to the three-point competition.
