Torey Krug On Bruins' Blown Leads: 'We Have To Learn How To Win'

BOSTON (CBS) -- There's a saying that a two-goal lead is the worst lead in hockey. Boston Bruins defenseman reminded Zolak & Bertrand of that cliche on Wednesday, less than 24 hours after the Bruins blew a two-goal lead in the third period to the lowly Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Bruins have blown seven two-goal leads this season, losing out on precious points that could ultimately nudge them out of the playoffs. Krug is particularly concerned about the team's struggles to close out games with big leads.

"That's not a good sign," Krug said on the team's struggles with two-goal leads. "Good teams that win a lot of hockey games, they're able to close games out and we haven't been able to so far."

Another problem that appears to be permeating the locker room is the Bruins' lack of experience playing together and inconsistency putting together the kind of team efforts required to win on a regular basis. Krug said the Bruins need to "grow up fast" if they want to have any hopes of even making the playoffs, let alone going on a deep run.

"We've talked all season long about how we have to mature as a group and how we have to learn how to win," said Krug. "It's very true but there comes a point where you can't use [immaturity] as an excuse anymore ... We've got to figure it out fast, otherwise, we're going to fall behind."
