Massachusetts Places Third In Ranking Of Fastest-Talking States
BOSTON (CBS) – The Bay State is home to some of the fastest talkers in the country, according to a new report.
Marchex, a mobile advertising analytics company, looked at how fast people in different states talk by measuring hold times and speech patterns in phone calls.
Massachusetts came in third place on the list of fastest-talking states, behind Oregon and Minnesota. Every New England state except for Maine is home to fast talkers, according to Marchex.
More than 4 million phone calls placed from consumers to businesses were analyzed. Marchex also said the entire nation is talking faster than ever with an average of 110 to 150 words per minute.
The slowest-talking state is North Carolina, the Marchex ranking found.
