NightSide - So Long To Lord Jeff

BOSTON (CBS) - Earlier this week, Amherst College decided to drop its' namesake unofficial mascot, Lord Jeff, after complaints from the student body over his oppressive actions as a British military commander in the 18th century. Among the most notable facts about Jeffery Amherst was the suggestion of giving smallpox-infected blankets to Native Americans during the French and Indian War. All instances of Lord Jeff the mascot will be removed from the school, including the name of an inn on campus, but the college will remain named for him. Given the historical context, do you believe the change was a good idea? Or do you think this is taking it too far? Should the college's name and the town it's located in be called into question as well?
