Two Arrested In Brookline Stabbings, Shootings

BROOKLINE (CBS) -- Police have arrested two suspects in connection with an armed home invasion  Wednesday in Brookline that led to three people getting shot and stabbed.

Antonio Brown Jr., 27, of Lincoln Way, Cambridge, and Khari A. Wilcox, 18, of Abbot St., Dorchester, were arrested at the hospital Wednesday evening, where they are being treated for stabbing and gunshot wounds.

Wilcox was arraigned at Beth Israel Hospital Thursday afternoon. He pleaded not guilty on several charges, including armed home invasion.

Brown was not arraigned on Thursday as he was "medically unavailable."

During the arraignment, prosecutors said the victim was hit in the head with a 2x4 piece of wood while the suspects where screaming "where's the money?" One of the men was waiving a gun, prosecutors said.

When the suspects took their eyes off of the victim, police say he grabbed a kitchen knife and a fight ensued.

Police say this was a targeted crime and at least two additional people who were involved have not yet been arrested. At least one of the two suspects at large is considered armed and dangerous, Brookline Chief of Police Daniel O'Leary said in a press conference Thursday.

Police responded to St. Paul's Street shortly before noon on Wednesday and found one man in an apartment shot multiple times in the leg and stabbed. Police believe a person who lived in the apartment was the target.

"This was a subject that rented a room in that apartment building. The community should know that we're working very hard to get everyone into custody," O'Leary said.

Two additional men, identified as Wilcox and Brown, Jr., were found injured – one shot and stabbed, one stabbed multiple times – lying on the ground on Harvard Street.

Police believe the two men were thrown out of a rented white Ford Focus. The car was later found abandoned in Boston.

Brown and Wilcox are facing charges of armed assault in a dwelling, armed assault with intent to rob, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Police say they know the motive but have not made it public.
