Julian Edelman Probably Won't Watch Super Bowl 50
BOSTON (CBS) -- When the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers square off in Super Bowl 50 next Sunday, there's one member of the Patriots who said he probably won't be watching.
New England wide receiver Julian Edelman joined WFAN's Boomer & Carton (with Chris Simms, a favorite among Patriots' fans, filling in for Boomer) on Wednesday, and with the Patriots' 20-18 AFC Championship Game loss to the Broncos still fresh, said he probably won't watch this year's Super Bowl.
Edelman, who is from Redwood, California -- just a short trip away from the site of Super Bowl 50, isn't sure if he'll attend any of the pregame festivities either, but is still considering making a few appearances.
"I might go there and do some things, but it's going to be a tough one to swallow," he said. "You're built as a competitor, to play football, and when you don't get to play in your hometown, it's going to be tough. I might be there. I don't know yet."
Edelman quickly touched on the loss to Denver, and said there were plenty of missed opportunities for the Patriots.
"They made more plays than us. We didn't make plays when we had to and it was unfortunate. Going into those types of games, you can't not play your best because you're playing the best team you've played all year," he said. "It's tough when you go out and lose a game like that. Of course you could watch the film and say I wish I would have done this or done that. That's hindsight."
But those wounds from the AFC Championship defeat will heal and the team will be ready to go in 2016, so Edelman told the hosts not to worry about him or the Patriots.
"Don't feel bad for me, we'll be all right," he said. "We'll be back next year."
