Zolak & Bertrand: Why The Patriots Were Stupid In AFC Championship Loss

BOSTON (CBS) -- 98.5 The Sports Hub's Zolak and Bertrand took a look at all of the ways the Patriots displayed some bad football in Sunday's AFC Championship loss in Denver.

"The Patriots did get in their own way with some pretty boneheaded stuff," Beetle said of Sunday's 20-18 loss.

Bertrand said Marcus Cannon played a terrible game overall, but called his false start on a pivotal 3rd-and-1 late in the game "mind blowing."

"Watch the football if you have to. Just watch the ball. It's loud, just look at the football if you have to," said Beetle. "It's not like you've been blocking anyone all day, so what does it matter? Right there, that was an opportunity to dive forward – two sneak opportunities for Tom Brady. What does he do? Sets them back five yards and turns a 3rd-and-1 into a 3rd-and-6, which changes a lot."

Bertrand also had an issue with running back James White leading the team with 16 targets against the Broncos. Zolak took aim at Tom Brady for a bad throw on a potential game-tying two-point conversion at the end of the game, and a terrible interception he threw to Von Miller in the first half.
