Fire Whipped By Storm Winds Burns Through Orleans House

ORLEANS (CBS) -- Orleans Police and Fire departments responded to a fire late Saturday night on Uncle Israel road during this weekend's snowstorm.

The fire was called in around 11:20 p.m. by two plow drivers who smelled smoke. Nobody was home at the time, as the single-family house was a summer residence.

Firefighters had a difficult time putting out the fire due to the weather, as winds whipped the flames.

Last evening, during the storm Orleans Police and Fire responded to the area of Uncle Israel Rd for the smell of smoke, by two plow drivers working in the area. Responding units discovered an unoccupied home at #3, which was at that time fully involved.
