Student Arrested For Making Threat Against Methuen High School

METHUEN (CBS) -- A 15-year-old Methuen High School student was arrested Thursday after allegedly leaving a threatening note in a school bathroom.

A school staff member found the note and, within 15 minutes determined who the student and called police. Police say the student confessed to writing the note, saying he was just trying to get out of school.

"He's now going to have a felony conviction on his record that also carries up to a $50,000 fine, so hopefully this is a deterrent to any other kid, if you're thinking of doing something stupid," Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon told WBZ-TV.

Police say the incident is not related to the bomb threat that was made against the school on Wednesday, or any of the other threats made to other schools over the last two weeks. Wednesday's incident remains under investigation.

The student is being charged as a juvenile.
