Boston, Cambridge Women To Compete For $1M On 'Survivor'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Two of the 18 contestants who will be vying for the $1 million prize on "Survivor: Kaoh Rong" when it kicks off in mid-February are women from the Boston area, according to CBS.

The 32nd season of "Survivor," which pits the Brains, Brawn and Beauty tribes against one another, will debut Feb. 17 at 8 p.m. on CBS.

Aubry Bracco, 29, of Cambridge is one of six "castaways" on the "Brain" Tribe. She is currently a social media marketer.

"It might seem like I'm a little bit of a nerd and I have the glasses, but there's more than just book smarts," she says in a CBS preview video to the new season, "And I really pride myself on being people smart."

Bracco, whose name means "leader of the elves," says one of her claims to fame was the way she pursued her education using her own style, according to her CBS profile.

"I convinced my advisors at Brown University to let me write a children's book about a manatee instead of a 50-page thesis and went on to graduate with honors," she says.

She also described herself as "beguiling, intuitive and relentless."

Meanwhile, Julia Sokolowski, 19, of Boston will be competing for the "Beauty" Tribe. She is currently a college student.

"I am a 'Survivor' super fan," she says in the video. "I have been watching the show since I was five years old."

"A year ago today, I was sitting in a high school classroom, raising my hand, asking to go to the bathroom, and now I'm out here in Cambodia playing 'Survivor,'" Sokolowski added.

Sokolowski, who describes herself as "outgoing, driven and versatile in her profile, says she wants to win the top prize so she can pay off her college tuition.

"I want to prove to everyone who ever doubted me that I am strong, strategic and intelligent, not just some Barbie princess, dumb blonde," she says.
