Police Continue Death Investigation At Waltham Home

WALTHAM (CBS) -- Waltham Police officers surrounded a Forest Street home Sunday where they are investigating an apparent murder-suicide allegedly involving a former police officer with the department.

Officers did a well-being check at the house around 5 p.m. on Saturday, according to a press statement released by the Middlesex District Attorney's Office. Police found both residents dead in the single-family home.

On Sunday, neighbors and a retired Waltham Police officer confirmed to WBZ that the people who lived inside were former Waltham Police Officer Kevin O'Connor and his wife Jeannine.

Neighbors were shocked by the news.

"We're very, very surprised," says neighbor Teresina Cosco.

"I've always lived in Waltham. To have something up this way happen like that is just not heard of," said fellow neighbor Danielle Miranda.

Property records obtained by WBZ list Kevin and and Jeannine O'Connor as the homeowners.

One neighbor says he used to see a patrol car parked in their driveway.

The retired Waltham Police officer says he knew the O'Connors well, adding that Kevin was a good guy.

The O'Connors have three adult children, according to neighbors.

Miranda says she's sad for the family.

"To lose parents like that, it's not fair," she said.

Authorities haven't formally released the victims' names.
