Mother, Son Nearly Hit By Stray Bullets In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – A mother and her six-year-old sold were nearly hit by stray bullets in Boston.

Amber Casteneda was driving out of Boston Tuesday night when the gunfire erupted. "I blink my eyes and I opened my eyes and all I see is a big bullet hole in the front of my windshield," Castenada said.

Three bullets exploded into her car. Her six year old son Jackson was in the backseat.

"If he was two inches taller he would have been shot in the back of the head," Casteneda said.

Amber had taken Jackson to visit his older brother in Boston, but a wrong turn led her to Geneva Ave, where she stopped, and the gunfire started.

"He was in the back middle seat and that bullet went right over his head, right past my right ear, and hit the windshield right in front of my face," Casteneda said.

"I just felt like God's hands were right around me, just pushed me to the side, because if I was a centimeter to the right that would have took my face off."

The gunfire was likely random but it didn't matter at that moment. Casteneda says if she learned anything from this incident, it would be to not take anything or anybody for granted.
