Patriots Coordinator Matt Patricia Reportedly To Interview With Browns

BOSTON (CBS) – The Patriots have the weekend off from practice as they await an opponent for their playoff opener. But defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will reportedly be a busy man.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network tweeted that Patriots assistant coaches get one day during the playoffs to interview for head coaching jobs.

Saturday is that day, according to Rapoport, who first reported that Patricia was expected to interview with the Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins.

Later Saturday morning, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald provided an update on the Dolphins coaching search.

Miami was negotiating a contract with Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase to have him become their next head coach.

As a result, Salguero reports that the Dolphins have cancelled their scheduled interview with Patricia.

Later Saturday afternoon, Gase was officially named the next Miami head coach.

On Friday, Rapoport reported that Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels won't be participating in any job interviews on wildcard weekend.

Though McDaniels is expected to draw plenty of interest from teams, he is expected to spend the weekend focusing on the game plan.

The Patriots will learn their divisional round opponent on Saturday as both AFC playoff games are on the docket.
