North Attleboro Fire Department's Plow Stolen

NORTH ATTLEBORO (CBS) -- The North Attleboro Fire Department used to keep its eight-foot-long, five hundred-pound snow plow blade behind the maintenance building here at fire headquarters.

Not anymore.

Fire Chief Ted Joubert says two men in a pickup truck stole the blade during a brazen nighttime robbery. The two were caught on video hooking the plow blade up to their own truck, and then taking off. Police are asking the public to identify the truck pictured here on surveillance video:

"I was truly amazed at the brashness and the cavalier way they approached this whole thing," said Chief Joubert. "They're in the back of a fire department, and it's an active department, it's our headquarters, trucks going in and out all the time. They just went up like they owned it, and maybe that's why they were able to do what they did."

The incident is similar to the thefts of city-owned plows in Cranston, Rhode Island over the past weeks. They were later found without the plow blades.
