Report: Dolphins Request Head Coach Interviews With Josh McDaniels, Matt Patricia

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Dolphins beat the Patriots on Sunday, and on Monday, they want to take New England's coaches.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the list of requests sent out by Miami for head coaching interviews included Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.

The Patriots can decide whether or not to grant that interview request as they prepare for a divisional playoff game at home on Jan. 16.

McDaniels, 39, left New England once before when he became the Denver Broncos' head coach prior to the 2009 season. He went 8-8 in his first season and 3-9 in his second before getting fired. He returned to the Patriots as an assistant for the 2011 playoffs, after spending that season with the St. Louis Rams.

Patricia, 41, has spent his entire professional career with the Patriots, beginning in 2004. He rose to the position of defensive coordinator in 2012.

The Dolphins finished the season 6-10 after firing head coach Joe Philbin midseason and employing Dan Campbell as the interim coach.
