Driver Arrested After Dragging Mass. State Trooper

EVERETT (CBS) -- A driver who dragged a Massachusetts State Police trooper while attempting to flee after he was pulled over was arrested Sunday morning.

Rober Aybar, 23, of Lawrence, was charged with resisting arrest, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery of a police officer, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and several other vehicle-related charges.

State Police said Trooper David Strong pulled Aybar over just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday for a motor vehicle infraction. When Strong approached Aybar's 2004 Acura Sedan to get his license, the car drove off, dragging Strong, whose arm was in the suspect's vehicle.

Trooper Strong was able to let go on his own, and was not injured--he got back in his cruiser and gave chase. The car was stopped again on Route 16 near Santilli Circle.
