Maine State Trooper Struck By New Hampshire Driver

LYMAN, Maine (AP) — A Maine state trooper and a woman from New Hampshire were treated and released for injuries they sustained in a crash that totaled both vehicles.

State police Sgt. Jim Urquhart says trooper Doug Cropper was travelling west on Route 111 Saturday afternoon when a speeding car headed east passed him.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Cropper was making a U-turn to pursue the speeder when his cruiser was struck by a car driven by 73-year-old Mary Allen of Sanbornville, New Hampshire. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Urquhart said both cars were totaled. He said no charges were filed but the investigation is ongoing.

The speeder got away.
