'Waves Of Snowballs' Seen In Maine's Sebago Lake
SEBAGO, MAINE (CBS) -- The first blast of winter in New England made for a unique sight in Maine's Sebago Lake.
David Allen of Stone Point Studio captured video of "waves of snowballs" in the lake on Tuesday. The phenomenon occurs when chunks of ice get tossed around by the waves of a lake, becoming rounded as they refreeze, and growing in size as they get pushed to shore.
The Facebook video has been shared over 1,000 times and is reminding some people of the nearly frozen waves seen off Nantucket last winter.
"This was one of the most awesome natural events I have ever seen!" Allen commented on Facebook.
