Boston, Worcester Set Christmas Eve Temperature Records
BOSTON (CBS/AP) — The calendar says Christmas Eve, but the temperatures in Massachusetts say spring.
The National Weather Service said that, as of 11:33 Thursday morning, Boston had broken the previous Christmas Eve temperature record of 61 degrees.
The mercury across Massachusetts on Thursday is expected to reach into the 60s and even near 70 in some spots, setting records across the state.

The National Weather Service reported that Worcester set a record-high temperature for the date when it reached 61. That beat the previous record of 57 set in 1990 and matched in 1996.
Also, when temperatures surpassed 50 in Boston and Worcester, both cities broke records for the number of days in December when temperatures reached or surpassed 50 degrees. Boston has now had 17 days this month of temperatures at or above 50, one more than 1993.
The weather service says Massachusetts temperatures are more typical of central and northern Florida.
