'Puppy Mill' Dog Nelson Finds A Forever Home

BOSTON (CBS) -- Nelson the pup may have just gotten the ultimate Christmas gift. Or, maybe it's Nelson's new family who is going home with the best gift.

Earlier this month, the very sick Shar-Pei-Pug was brought to the MSPCA after travelling from a Missouri puppy mill. More than 1,000 people were interested in adopting Nelson, but its a Saugus couple and their two-year-old Shar Pei "Mugsy" that have taken Nelson home.

Chuck Rees and Kayla Penney of Saugus, Mass. adopted Mugsy from the same facility back in 2013 after he recovered from a very rare flesh eating bacteria.

It didn't take too long for Mugsy and Nelson to connect. In fact, it was "love at first sight" encounter, an MSPCA spokesperson said.
