Keller @ Large: Marty Walsh Looks Back At 2015

BOSTON (CBS) -- When reflecting on 2015, Boston mayor Marty Walsh can think of one big thing he wishes had turned out differently--Boston's Olympic bid.

"The Olympics, I would say, is something I would like to have seen turn out differently," said Walsh. "Looking back now and thinking about the last year with the Olympics, if we were to do it all over again, probably would have rolled it out differently."

Walsh sat down with WBZ political analyst Jon Keller to talk about the accomplishments he was most proud of this year--and those that he wasn't proud of, too. Though, when it comes to the Olympic debacle, Walsh said the change in leadership in City Hall and the State House had a hand in what happened.

"With the Olympic conversation, the thing that made it really difficult was it started under Mayor Menino and Governor Patrick, and it ended up being Mayor Walsh and Governor Baker," said Walsh. "There were a lot of different pieces moving at the time, and I think that that kind of set us back."

But the year wasn't all bad--Walsh said one of his proudest accomplishments was hiring Dr. Tommy Chang as the superintendent of Boston Public Schools.

"He's done some great groundwork, and I look for great things to come from Tommy Chang and the Boston School Department," Walsh said.

Keller and Walsh also spoke about the issues facing the city in the new year. Walsh said some of his priorities were implementing changes in the public school system, dealing with the drug epidemic, and lowering the number of shootings in the city.
