Jay Talking Travel: "Creepy Castle In Slovakia.'

Trencin Castle

North of Bratislava in Slovakia, is a very small town called Trencin that has all the hallmarks of what I tend to like in Central European towns. It is small, cobble-stoned, untouristed, and inexpensive. The best hotel in town, the beautiful Elizabeth Hotel, was only 70 Euro.

I will do a separate video on the town itself, but first I want to focus on this Trencin Castle. It is not grand in the way of Prague castle, but you get a real "Game Of Thrones", "life in the muck" vibe here. The castle dates back to the Roman Empire and there is an inscription in a rock wall dated 179 AD

In the thirteenth century, it was the home of the Lord of the River Vah.

The castle is home to a few goats, or kozel, that seem very comfortable up here. You don't want to mess with these goats, they look pretty tough. The castle structure provides a great view of the town below.

It is such a short walk up the hill, I came back at night and found the place to be pretty spooky, just as you would hope such a castle would be.

Make sure to check out the upcoming video on the town of Trencin below the castle.
