Amendola, Hightower Suffer Knee Injuries Vs. Titans

FOXBORO (CBS) -- Danny Amendola and Dont'a Hightower played in Sunday's game vs. the Tennessee Titans, despite neither being at 100 percent after suffering knee injuries in recent weeks.

And, in that game, both players were forced to head to the locker room long before the final whistle, due to what appeared to be reaggravations of their previous injuries.

Amendola's took place in the second quarter, after he returned a punt 22 yards with a little more than a minute left to play in the half. He limped to the sideline and tried to walk off his pain, at one point seeming to signal toward the training staff that he was OK. But after several moments, he doubled over in pain, and he went to the bench with the team's training staff. That was his final play of the afternoon.

Hightower, who was active after missing the past two games following a knee sprain suffered in Buffalo, left the game in the third quarter. Roughly 11 minutes into the second half, on a play that ended with a Malcolm Butler interception which was negated due to a defensive holding penalty, Hightower walked gingerly toward the sidleline. Shortly thereafter, he headed to the locker room and did not return.

Amendola had one reception for three yards and four punt returns for 36 yards before suffering the injury. Hightower had just one tackle.
