Rosevelt Colvin On Toucher & Rich: Injury, Patriots Schemes Made J.J. Watt Look Like 'Average Player'

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots earned a big road win over the Houston Texans on Sunday night, and one of the biggest names sought by media after the game was former Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork. But the future Patriots Hall-of-Famer curiously did not make himself available after the game. It was a notable absence, considering Wilfork's relevance to both teams and how good he usually is with the media.

Wilfork's former Patriots teammate Rosevelt Colvin offered some perspective on Toucher & Rich Monday morning, explaining that Wilfork didn't mean any disrespect. He can just be quite emotional in disappointing situations, and may have wanted time alone while he collected himself.

"When he's upset, [Wilfork] just tends to keep to himself," said Colvin. "I don't think that would change him ... At the end of the day, he probably was just a little upset that they lost the game."

What about the Texans' All-Word defensive end J.J. Watt? Playing with a broken hand and going up against a Bill Belichick scheme, Watt looked like a mere mortal for the fourth straight game against the Patriots. Hands are extremely important to pass rushers, and can severely hamper them if they need to play with just one healthy hand.

Colvin said it was a combination of both the injury and Belichick's schemes on the offensive line that kept Watt in check.

"[Watt's] effort and his hustle was going to keep him in play and make him an average player, but it changes the game for J.J. when it comes to just being an All-Pro, Defensive Player of the Year kind of guy that he typically is," said Colvin. "Bill wasn't going to let him change the game, regardless if he had a club [on one hand] or not."
