Uber Driver Attacked By Passenger In Boston

BOSTON (CBS) – Video from inside a Boston Uber shows the driver being attacked. The driver says he was attacked because he refused to give some customers a ride.

Abdul Aziz drives for Uber because he feels it's safer. But early Friday morning on Stuart Street, he picked up a group of people, five men and woman. All of the passengers were polite, except one named Andrew.

"He was arguing very badly and I said 'I'm sorry you're being very disrespectful, I can't take you, can you please get out from my car,'" Aziz said.

Andrew tried to stop the passenger in the front seat from getting out of the car. Seconds later, as the others were trying to calm down Andrew, he attacked Aziz.

Video shows Andrew, with a beard and gray sweater, kicking Abdul's minivan after he got out.

Aziz is originally from Bangladesh, but he came here to raise his children as Americans.

"I love this country," he says. "I like it, I support my family, I am very concerned."

Uber has identified the passenger and he will no longer be allowed to use their platform. Boston Police have not filed charges.
