DraftKings And FanDuel Back Regulations Proposed By State

BOSTON (AP) — Daily fantasy sports companies DraftKings and FanDuel are supporting Massachusetts' approach to regulating their industry.

The companies and other industry experts participated Thursday in a forum hosted by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.

Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey has proposed what she says is a first-in-the-nation plan to regulate the websites that allow players to compete for cash prizes based on how athletes perform in real-life games. The proposed rules call for age and advertising restrictions, disclosure requirements and other restrictions.

Zakary Cutler, representing Boston's DraftKings, said Healey's proposed regulations appear "reasonable" and "pretty thorough."

Stephen Martino, a lawyer for New York's FanDuel, suggested Healey's proposal should be a model for regulations considered by other states.
