Man With Knife Attempts To Enter Auburn School

AUBURN (CBS) – A Worcester man was arrested after police say he tried to enter an Auburn school while in possession of a knife.

The incident took place Tuesday morning as a 21-year-old man tried to get into Auburn High School.

Police did not identify the man, but said he was carrying a razor knife.

The School Resource Officer found the man outside the school, crying while he spoke to the principal.

According to police, the man was interviewed briefly before being transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for an evaluation.

He will be charged with carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds and disturbing a school assembly.

"All of the previously implemented safety plans worked exactly as they should have during this incident to ensure the safety of students and faculty," Auburn Police said.
