Man Accused Of Stealing Bones From Worcester Cemetery Appears In Court
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut man described by police as a Santeria priest caught with human remains in his home has agreed to go to Massachusetts to face accusations that he stole the skeletons from a mausoleum.
Amador Medina waived extradition Monday during a brief court appearance in Hartford. Police are expected to bring him to Worcester, Massachusetts.
Medina was arrested Friday after police say they found the remains of five people in his Hartford apartment.
Worcester police expect to charge Medina with disinterment of bodies and other crimes. Authorities say the remains of three adults and two children were stolen two months ago from a family mausoleum that dates to 1903.
Medina's public defender didn't immediately respond to an email seeking comment on the allegations. His relatives and friends declined to comment outside the courtroom.
