VTech Hack May Have Exposed Photos Of Kids, Parents

HONG KONG (CBS) -- A data breach at a popular children's toy company may have put pictures of children and their parents in the hands of hackers.

VTech Holdings, a Hong Kong company that makes electronic learning devices for kids, announced on Friday that it had been hacked. The data breach affected the company's app store, exposing the email addresses, names and passwords of adults, and the first names, birthdays and gender for kids.

But Motherboard is reporting that the hack may have gone even further. It also left thousands of profile photos and online chat logs vulnerable to hackers, according to Motherboard.

VTech has not responded to reports about pictures being exposed. The company does say that customers' credit card information is not at risk.

"We offer our sincere apologies regarding this issue," VTech stated.
