Looking To The Future With City Hall Selfie Booths

BOSTON (CBS) -- How can you help shape the future of Boston?

You can start by taking selfies.

Imagine Boston 2030 is Mayor Marty Walsh's campaign to re-imagine the city in advance of its 400th birthday, and the first city planning effort in 50 years. The group is asking Bostonians to stop by City Hall Plaza and take a photo of themselves in front of their futuristic banner, then share the photos on social media--along with their ideas for the future of their city--with the hashtag #ImagineBoston.

Jerome Smith, the Mayor's Chief of Civic Engagement, said the "Picture Yourself in the Future" campaign is meant to get people engaged.

"We're trying to do as many things as we can," said Smith. "This is a two-year planning process, culminating in what we want to have as a vision for the city."

The booths will appear at a number of locations and events over the next week, including the Boston Common Tree Lighting. For a full list of places where you'll be able to snap a selfie for the city's future, visit imagine.boston.gov.
