Marathon Bombing Survivor Helps Give New Life To Amputees

BOSTON (CBS) - Boston Marathon bombing survivor Adrianne Haslet says she has a lot to give back.

"Most of all I am thankful to be in a position to help other amputees," she said.

Haslet lost part of her leg in the Boston Marathon tragedy and has been wearing a prosthetic limb. Now she's a spokesperson for Limbs for Life, a non-profit organization that gives amputees a second chance to fulfill their dreams.

December 1st marks Giving Tuesday. It's a chance for people to donate to charities and causes they believe in. "I really think Giving Tuesday is gaining momentum and it's time to give back. We have Black Friday and Cyber Monday but it's time to give back with giving Tuesday," Adrianne said.

Adrianne's dream was to become a professional dancer. When she first lost her leg she thought her dreams were gone forever. Now thanks to organizations like Limbs for Life, she's not only fulfilling her dream but giving back so others can do the same.

"It's really important to give them my time. Limbs for Life is crucial for amputees. They provide amputees limbs for life," Adrianne says.
