Connecticut Trooper Takes In Orphaned Baby Deer

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (CBS) -- A Connecticut State Police trooper became the unlikely caretaker of two baby deer after a crash left them orphaned.

"Oh deer! Sometimes Troopers get more than they bargain for when responding to a call," police wrote in a Facebook post.

Police said Trooper Ben Pagoni responded to a crash that killed a mother deer. When there was nowhere for the baby deer to go, Pagoni got permission to take them home, where his family helped care for them.
