Judge To Hear Boston Marathon Bomber's Request For New Trial

BOSTON (AP) — A judge is set to hear arguments on Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's request for a new trial.

Tsarnaev was convicted and sentenced to death earlier this year for his role in the 2013 attack. Twin bombs placed near the finish line by Tsarnaev and his brother, Tamerlan, killed three people and injured more than 260 others.

Tsarnaev's lawyers argue that he deserves a new trial in a different location where jurors will be impartial. The defense said that because of outrage in Greater Boston after the attack, jurors could not be objective.

During his trial, Tsarnaev's lawyers admitted that he and his brother carried out the bombings, but argued that his brother was the mastermind.

A hearing is scheduled in federal court Tuesday.
