Jimmy Fund Donation Can Stolen, Norwood Police Ask For Help

NORWOOD (CBS) -- The Norwood Police Department wants to know, "How low can one go?"

The department is asking its Facebook and Twitter followers to help them identify a man seen in surveillance footage stealing the Jimmy Fund donation canister from the counter of AJay's Market on Walpole Street in Norwood.

They posted the footage to their Facebook page, and on Twitter:

The canisters are placed on counters in the hopes that shoppers will donate their change to the Jimmy Fund, which raises money for cancer research. Norwood Police have been participating in the fundraising for over 60 years.

HOW LOW CAN ONE GO? We interrupt your family time to ask for help from our Facebook and Twitter posse. On Thanksgiving Day which is made more difficult for some by "the empty chair," or others at the uncertainty of the future of a sick child, the fellow in this video absconded with the Jimmy Fund canister from AJay's Market on Walpole Street. The theft is being investigated by Patrolman Geoffrey Baguma. If you can assist in solving this theft call the Norwood Police at 781-440-5100. If you're not familiar with the Jimmy Fund canister program the cans are placed around town near cash registers in hopes people will donate their change. Donations fund research to cure cancer in children. The NPD has been participating for over 60 years. The people of Norwood have been extraordinarily generous over the decades. We're posting this video clip in hopes that someone will put a name to this suspect.
