NH Prison Chef Charged With Bringing Drugs To Inmates

BERLIN (CBS) -- A New Hampshire prison chef is facing charges for allegedly trying to bring drugs to inmates.

After a "lengthy investigation," the Department of Corrections learned that Charles Hanson, 49, was bringing contraband to the Northern New Hampshire Correctional Facility in Berlin, according to State Police.

Authorities say he was arrested for trying to bring a large amount of drugs worth at least $67,000 to inmates.

Hanson is charged with delivery of articles to prisoners, a class B felony.

The North Woodstock man was released on personal recognizance and is due back in court on Dec. 29.
