Man Accused Of Pointing Fake Gun In I-93 Road Rage Incident Appears In Court
SOMERVILLE (CBS) -- A Charlestown man appeared in court Thursday after being accused of waving what looked like a real gun at a woman while driving on I-93.
Gary Pimental, 20, is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.
The road rage incident wasn't Pimentel's first brush with the law. When it happened, he was out on bail on another assault and battery charge stemming from an incident nine months ago.
The alleged victim in that case says he's not surprised.
"The kid has a short fuse," said Adam Perea, who was a customer at the McDonalds in the Boston Garden when Pimentel worked there in February.
He says the two got into a short argument over food.
"He taps me on the shoulder. I look over like, 'What are you doing?' And he's like, 'You still want some of those fries?' and then he hit me," said Perea. "They need to reevaluate letting him out this time," he added.
The judge ordered Pimentel held behind bars at least until his next court appearance next month.
On Wednesday afternoon, Pimental was driving a Honda Accord on the ramp from 93 north to Mystic Avenue in Somerville when investigators say he got into a confrontation with another driver.
That driver claims Pimental pointed a gun at her. She called 911 and followed Pimental until a Medford Police officer stopped him.
