Comedian, Dolphins Fan Daniel Tosh Wins Patriots Bet For Sick Friend

BOSTON (CBS) – Comedian Daniel Tosh has made it well known through his television show and stand up act that he is a Miami Dolphins supporter who is no fan of the New England Patriots.

But on Thursday night, Tosh was pulling for the Patriots in a big way.

Tosh made a $25,000 bet on the first half of Thursday's game for a sick friend in need.

He took the Patriots and the -3.5 spread for the first two quarters, and cashed in as New England took a 19-0 lead into halftime.

But Tosh isn't keeping the money.

Tosh made the bet for his friend and fellow comedian Andy Ritchie, who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.

During a resulting surgery, Ritchie suffered a stroke and faces extensive rehabilitation and care, according to an online fundraising page.

The bet, as Tosh explained, was a win-win scenario.

"If my Dolphins are winning, I'm happy. If they're losing, Andy gets some much needed help," Tosh said earlier this week on an episode of his Comedy Central show, Tosh.0. "So please Tom Brady. For once in your life, you and Bill use your shady, dishonest, cheating powers for good. In the first half only!"

When the first half came to a close, Tosh tweeted a photo of his winning slip from the Mirage casino.

A GoFundMe page has been established for Ritchie, having raised nearly $50,000 as of Friday morning.
