Man Killed In Route 1 Hit-And-Run In Saugus Identified

SAUGUS (CBS) – State Police have identified the man killed in a hit-and-run late Sunday night on Route 1 in Saugus.

Investigators say 33-year-old Lee Castoro had been at Hooters and was trying to cross the southbound side of the road when he was hit in the middle lane around 11 p.m.

They believe Castoro was returning to a nearby hotel when he was struck by a red car, which did not stop.

He was rushed to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital where he later died.

"Mr. Castoro had a recent address of New York City, but State Police are investigating other possible addresses for him," State Police spokesman Dave Procopio said in a statement Tuesday.

Police said they found a car Monday believed to be involved in the crash and they are working to determine who may have been driving.

There have been no arrests at this point in the investigation.
